Question
i have had my hamster (rollie) for about 1 and a half years...it was losing a lot of fur on its back and legs and it was getting treatment and it started to grow back. it was eating alot of food (generally hamster bagged food) and i ocasionally gave it chocolate treats , i mostly gave it dried corn) it was running in it wheel and ball alot and it was very active and it seemed to have lost alot of weight during the past few months and
i had checked on it 2 hrs before it died and it was running around like mad..but when i went into my room i checked on it AND IT was in its little green house in a crouching position on its side it had only died about 20 minutes before i found it..can u please tell me how it died plz plz plz

Answer
Dear Jay,
thank you for your question.
Only an autopsy can give any information about why your hamster died, I cannot say anything about this. I have no medical training and even if I had, there would be no way for me to say anything without having seen the animal.
Roborovski hamsters, as all dwarf hamsters, are very suspectible to diabetes however. They shouldn't get any sugary or sweet treats or food at all, so diabetes might have been the cause of death or might have contributed to it. But this is just guesswork.
I'm sorry that I cannot be of more help to you
