Question
hello Katie! my name is Deadra & i would like to know about how do you know that your hamster is pregnant? i have a male european hamster & a teddy bear female hamster. that i just got about 3 weeks ago her & the male hamster is in a 3 story cage.i have noticed that coffee the female is constantly fighting with jet the male hamster. she like attacks him everytime that he comes near her. now when i first got her she would be around jet, but now i noticed that she totally took over the whole downstair section + she s taking control of all the food.i have noticed also that her size is bigger + she s more fluffier. she is also been building a nest underneath the ramp of the cage. do you think that she s pregnant? now jet the male stays on the 2nd floor to stay away from coffee because she fights him all the time now when he gets near her. if she is pregnant do i have to separate jet & coffee? and what do i look for when she s gonna have the babies? she used to be tiny now she s way bigger & fluffier than jet. you should see how she attacks him when he gets close to her she ll bite at his feet. well i know i asked you alot of questions, but please give me some answers because i never had a girl pregnant hamster before. i kindly thank you for your time in letting me ask these questions. i really appreciate it. this is a great service to have peace Katie!

Answer

First of all hamsters are not social animals and should be kept in seperate cages, only one per cage. Second of all it is very possible that your female hamster is pregnant. I would watch for little pink babies but if they are not there within the next 20 days she is not pregnant.
