living together

Question
I keep getting mixed answers regaarding housing together of dwarf hamsters.  Recently we had to separate our male teddy bears.  We have no intention of breeding, only to keep as pets.  We plan to purchase a dwarf and a gerbil( of course in separate cages)  Some say dwarfs will eventually start fighting?  I was also told Gerbils enjoys having a companion?  What do you recommend?

Gerbils do enjoy having cage companions, and get along much better with companions than dwarf hamsters do.

When dwarf hamsters reach maturity, they usually become very dominant and do not want to be housed with another hamster. Doing so usually results in fights and injuries.
