I've had gerbils and hampsters but I was wondering what kind of bedding makes best for tunneling and if I was going to install a sand bath in what way would I do it. Thanks

Hi Old Koot,

Aspen bedding is the safest for hampsters and works good for tunneling. Bedding like ceder and pine are toxic to hampsters. For a sand bath, Chinchilla sand is best. Place a small amount in a dish and put it in their cage. Make sure it is sand and not dust as this is to fine for hampsters. They may sniff and dig in it at first but after that they will enjoy their sand bath.
