Please help im so worried

hiya its elle the one who asked about the lumps on the gerbils scent glands? well the lumps are both at the very top of the scent gland and they are a bit smaller than a pea and are hard they are basically round and stick out a bit? luv elle x

Ok, as far as i am aware there is supposed to be a sort of lump at the top of the scent gland, which is normal, but it is if it turns red and swollen that you need to worry, also if it is a tumour it will continue to get larger!

In turn the gerbil will obviously feel ill and not eat or drink, and will not look healthy.
I would keep an eye on the glands, and the gerbils and watch to see if their behaviour changes, or if the lumps grow.

If you really are very worried i would suggest booking a veterinary appointment, but not with the vet you first called, as he may not be the best. Get them both checked over so your mind can be out at rest!!

Have a look at this page and read the scent gland tumour section, there is also a picture of what it will start to look like if it is a tumour!!
