2 Gerbils - 1 has died - they are still small

QUESTION: My kids 6 days ago got 2 gerbils (different colors) from the same breeder.  They are small (body probably 2.5 inches long).  One just died.  Not quite sure why.  The other one is active and happy.  If we get another one from the same bunch from the same breeder will they like each other?  We have a very sad kid.

I am sorry that one of the gerbils died. You probably could buy another gerbil from the same breeder and they would be okay. Since they are young they have a tendancy to accept a new gerbil better.

Another question we have is that we haven't gotten them to use the water dripper (we know that they shouldn't drink alot) but ..... Any suggestions?

Answer
The gerbils will eventually get used to it. I would sometimes place my hand over the end and drip water out so they know that it's a source for water. It will take a little while but they will djust. Gerbils don't drink a lot of water so you won't really know if they are drinking or not unless you watch them closely.
I'm glad you got another friend for the gerbil.
