water bottle

i just got a new syrian hamster yesterday but he wont drink his water out of his bottle....he just kinda looks at it and goes away but if i drop a little water into one of his tubes he will drink it...is there any other way to give him water other than a bottle...is it ok to put some water in a little food bowl or something like that? thanx

Hi Gill,

I know you are probably worried about your hamster because you have ony had him a few days but i am quite sure he is drinking - you just probably havent seen him do it yet - he could be drinking at night time when you are asleep - they are most active at night time.

If you are still worried then you could mark the water level on the water bottle to make sure it is going down.

If you really want to them you can put a dish of water in the cage too - they can drink from a dish just as well as a bottle.
