Questionhi,my hamster has had wet fur on its back for a little while now but shes still playing and eating and everything but we dont know how to help her
AnswerHi Bailee
Thanks for question. I'm not too sure I know what you mean in that her back is wet. Do you mean the fur on her hips? If so (assuming this is a Syrian) they have scent glands on their hips and sometimes they wash them a lot which means they often have wet patches.
What is her cage like? Does she sleep in a plastic house/tube? If so, these can attract condensation, and sometimes hamsters end up with damp fur because of this. This is not healthy for them and therefore it is always best if they either sleep under a platform or in a natural house such as wooden, coconut shell etc.
It is good that apart from this she is behaving normally. If you would like to provide me with further information I might be able to shed some light on this.
