Question
I have a very lively bunch of ferrets(4 all togeather)nune of my ferrets bit exept the youngest. He is very kissey and loves to play and be heald. Every time i try to give him a treat he literally chews my hand off. I dont understand what to do. He never bits even when playing or when is feeding time he is fine, but when it comes to treats watch out!its sad that he has to go in the cage for his treats well the others are out playing.IS their any hpoe for my little Romeo.

Answer
Depending on his age - he may just not be used to treats and get over excited.  I had a ferret who for years would gently take the first treat then bite my fingers worse with every treat after that - I learned to give him the largest treats - the ferret food that I could hold onto and he could eat without the 2 meeting.  You can always train a ferret a command like "gently" like you would for a dog.  I am sure there are positive reinforcement books out there to help you teach a command.  Do be careful about feeding treats - we use only other ferret foods as treats.  There is a direct link to treats and insulinoma in ferrets.  Things like rasins, human food and fruits etc can all cause problems.  Stick to meat based treats and varieties if ferrets foos.
