Adult Beardie Care

Question
I just have a few questions as I may be purchasing an adult (or sub adult) Beardie next week at a reptile expo.  I've been doing some research and reading care sheets (so far the one of beardeddragon.org seems most descriptive and most helpful).

Do males and females stay around the same size, or are females larger than males, vice versa?

I will be housing it in a 40g tank, but if that is too small I will most likely purchase a larger enclosure.  How can I get a basking temp to about 95F?  I will have a large log the Beardie can bask on that will be 6-8 inches away from the top of the enclosure (care sheet said to have the UVB light in reach of 6-8 inches away from the Beardie, so I will have the log 6-8 inches away from the screen top) so I was wondering what watt basking bulb should I purchase?

On a daily basis, should I feed the Beardie greens, crickets, and pellets?  I've seen baby Beardies eat pellets, so I'm not sure if only the babies are supposed to eat pellets, or both the babies and adults.

What are some good vegetables, greens, and fruits that you give your Beardie?

How many crickets (on average) does an adult/sub adult Beardie eat daily?

Also, just one last question, what UVs does a Beardie require?  Both UVA & UVB, UVB, or UVA?

Answer
Hello, UVA and UVB are required, the greens that you should Normally feed the bearded dragon is romaine lettuce. Crickets or super worms are a good meat diet for them. you will need a 55 gallon or larger enclosure to hold a sub adult to adult as 40 will be too small. Daily feed the bearded dragon greens and crickets but do not feed it the pellets. Pellets are usually for the baby or juveniles. If you get crickets around the dozen, a good amount for one adult or sub adult would be between 2 dozen daily. For a good basking temperature make sure you have a good bulb for the heat lamp and have a reptile thermometer to see if it gets to the right temp.

A 100wat bulb should be from anywhere good to better. Also, the bearded dragon needs to stay moist as being in the hot climate they require water. Make sure you give the bearded dragon 2-3 baths each week to keep it clean or spray the dragon with water, spraying the dragon can cause stress on the body depending on how they take it.
