How to mate my spaniel

I have a 5 year old female cocker and a 4 year old male cocker, she is in season at the moment and has been about a week. My male is crying all the time but i don't think he knows what to do.... how can i help them breed??

You can place them together starting the 9th or 10th day of her cycle.  If they spend too much time together they may become frustrated, especially since she won't be ready to receive him.

The best way to help is to straddle her over your lap with her legs on either side of yours. You can then guide the male to the business end and encourage him. You can use your hand to guide him and hold him in position.
