Question
Hye, I buy a yorkie about 2 weeks ago, the puppy had 4 weeks for that time.
It is supposed to be deliver to me this week that will have 6 weeks old, but I
call the breeder and ask her if she can stay with the puppy 2 more weeks, so
it can be more time with the mommy.  How much time do a puppy must pass
with the mother? Because I read that is important that they develop some
skills with the mother, and I'm very concern about the time it spends with the
mom.

Thank you for your help;
Grisely

Answer
Hi. I'm not sure where you are, but there are laws set up so that puppies can't be sold until their 8 weeks old. Pups shouldn't leave their mom and littermates until they're at least 8 weeks old. They do need the extra time, like you said, to learn doggie things. Some breeders are now keeping their pups until 12 weeks. So, if you can, talk your breeder into keeping your puppy until he's 8 weeks. If not, and you get this pup at 6 weeks, make sure he's socialized with other dogs as soon as he gets all his shots. Good luck, and congrats on your new puppy!
