Question
I want to stud out my cavalier boy he is years old and is clear on all his tests including MVD my question is if we have problems with getting a tie how do I assist him in getting one I have done natural matings but have not as yet been successful at helping him out with a difficult female.

Answer
Hi Teressa

With a difficult female, it's best to muzzle her and hold her for mounting.

Have her stand across your lap.  You on the floor with her front legs on one side and back legs on the other side of your legs. Holding her in place, bring the male around to the "business end". Encourage him to mount her.  When he's in position use your hand to guide him into the female. DO NOT grab, pinch or prod him, just let his member rest in your palm and lift it gently to her vulva. Once he has penetrated, push his hind quarters gently and hold him into place until a lock occurs.

After the lock happens, hang on to the female so she doesn't drag him all over the place.

Good luck.
