Question
I love my 2 year old shih tzu male to death but he will not listen to me. When I scold him he just gives me a look that says "whatever" and continues doing whatever he is doing. It is especially bad when I take him outside. 85% of the time he is good and stays in our yard but every once in a while he runs off, even after I tell him not to. What can I do to make him listen to me?

Answer
Scolding is NOT training!!!!!  Learn to use a clicker, try these reward-based lessons instead, and see if you have better luck:-))

You cannot expect a dog to just stay in your yard, with no training whatsoever, just because you "told him".  Obviously, you don't understand the mechanics of how to teach a dog to associate our words with his actions.  The lessons will help - honest.  If you have trouble on your own, however, go here to find a trainer who can help you learn:
