Question
I have a 6 month old male beagle and I am trying to stop him from tearing up and pulling out the stuffing from his bedding. We put dog toys and chews so he doesn't do it but he just goes back to ruining blankets and it really frustrates me. So for now, we put him in own smaller kennel until we can figure out what to do.

Answer
Beagles are high energy dogs that need alot of exercise and training to be good pets. Your dog may be acting out of frustration or just because he has alot of extra energy he doesn't know what to do with. I tell most owners that their dog needs at least one brisk 30 minute walk a day but I think beagles need two or more. A few vigorous games of catch or tug and an energetic training session also will not go amiss here.

If he chews up the bedding, just take it out or try a different kind that isn't so easily torn up. Give him long-lasting treats and toys like stuffed Kong toys, bully sticks and large smoked knuckle bones, but most important- make sure he gets lots of exercise.
