Question
I have a Yorkie that will be 2 this December.  She was a gift during a tough time in my life I had just had surgery and was confined to the bed for 3 months.  I have 2 teenagers and they did their best at trying to potty train her however she is not potty trained at all.  She will go when you take her out but she will also go in the house when ever and where ever she wants.  I work long hours and feel very guilty if I crate her what do I do?  She also has many other bad habits....barking all the time especially if someone gets loud in the house.  When you try to correct her she is so small and fast you can not catcher her what do we do?  We all love the dog dearly but she is ruining my house potting everywhere.  She also, gets so excited when we have company, she loves company... she won't leave them alone barking and begging them to pick her up what do we do please help!!!

Answer
For the housebreaking, crating is really the best solution, and regular bathroom breaks.  If you work long hours and have to leave her, you might have to leave her in a confined area with tile floors, like with a baby gate in the kitchen or laundry room and puppy pad on the floor.  However, the best solution would be keeping her crated and hiring a dog walker to come while you're gone, or even bringing her to doggie day care.  If you are going to correct a dog and they run, you still need to chase after them and get them, follow through.  You can also teach a "quiet" command by first training her to bark on command then say "quiet" and reward her when she stops, this might take the help of a dog trainer.  When people come over, you can put her on leash so you have some control, maybe tether her in the house or crate her.
