Question
We will be getting male and female softcoated wheaten terrier litter mates soon.  They will be 10 weeks old when they arrive. I know there is a lot of disagreement about raising littermates but that is not the issue at hand. I am looking for a good source of information for some of the issues we will have beyond normal single puppy raising. What can you recommend?

Answer
Aside from the obvious spaying, you can sucessfully raise two litter mates. However, there is an ongoing tremendous amount of extra work required on the part of everyone in the family. Naturally, the first concern is for the puppies. You, the owner come second.

I have attached a website that will outline the formula for all that you should do to successfully achieve your goals. To be successful, it is my opinion, you should strickly abide by the recommendations in the article under the beginning, "second best solution".

From your writing it sounds as if you made up your mind to proceed, therefore, please read the entire article--put your personal wishes aside and, after that--if you feel you can comply with the suggestions, I wish you the best of success in your efforts which will continue for at least the first three years.

Good luck. Remember to think of the puppies FIRST.

As time goes on, please provide me an update.
