Puppy alone at home

Question
Ellie, our 4 month old mini aussie, does not like being left alone.  She barks, becomes stressed and has destroyed her bedding in the crate.  I have tried leaving her for VERY short periods of time (down the stairs, open car garage door, and back upstairs) but she still becomes quite upset.  I will continue with the process, in hopes that she becomes more relaxed, but would appreciate any other ideas you have.

Answer
Continue doing the short periods of time. When you leave and when you return should be very unemotional times - no excited goodbyes or greetings. You may also want to give her some really great treat like a marrow bone or a stuffed Kong that she only gets when you are gone.
