deaf dog

we have just adopted an American Bulldog (male, approx 1-2 yrs old) who is deaf. We have a 3yr old female lab and two elderly cats. He is sweet and loving and a little boisterous. We would like to teach him some basic good manners and behaviors that will also keep  him safe.

A good trainer would be helpful, one who has experience training deaf dogs.  There are collars you can buy online that are vibration collars, they are used to get the dogs attention for times when he's not looking.  Look for obedience schools or trainers in your area who have a good reputation.  You can learn most of the basic obedience in just a few lessons to get you started.
