Question
eight year old Australian terrier cross with fox terrier. Our dog has all ways been very protective of food and even our coats and bags. This happens not only at home but also when we visit friends. She will growl our friends dogs and cats in their own environment and even take their food.It has become increasingly more frequent and more agressive. She even snaps and growls rather viscously if they walk any where near her. What can we do to break this bad habit as she has become very anti social.we would appreciate your input.

Answer
Your dog is in command, not you. Your dog needs to go to obedience school and also socialization classes.  Get a baby gate and keep the dog confined to a room [kitchen] so it can't go pee on your bed or anything else, the dog does not respect you as leader. Second, put the dog away when you eat so it cannot get on the table and food. You need to follow the nothing in life is free program. The dog gets nothing unless it works for it. Works means sit, down, or some other command. Only when it does what you say does the dog get food, water, treat, toy, attention etc.
