Question
i just adopted a shih tzu from an animal shelter. He is a neutered 7 year old.He is good with cats ,other dogs but very snarly with people who try to pet him. Trust issues i think. I have had him for 5 days and he has become less aggressive with me but have done a lot of bribing with treats. Is this a with time.... or is there a way to speed up this process. we are an older couple with no little children around so we felt we could make him a safe loving home

Answer
Usually this is a with time thing.  Trust needs to be earned, continue with the treats routine.

Also understand that dogs communicate different from humans, so do not approach head on always sideways.  Do not Stare at eyes, do not bend over the dog, all these things to a dog are challenges.

Encourage the dog to come to you, place a tempting treat close to you, at your side, and ignore the dog completely and let him/her approach on her one to get treat.
