barking and chewing puppy

Question
We have a 12 week old male Australian cattle dog. He has been learning everything very quickly but he seems to be trying to be dominant over me. He does not do it to my husband. He will sit and look at me and bark. If I ignore him he will just keep   barking them bite/nip me. I give him a stern NO and try to be consistent with him. I am not sure how else to punish him for his behavior. I have tried to grab him by the scruff and hold him down but he gets more aggressive when I do that with him. Since he is an ACD he can be quite stubborn so I want to break this habit.
Do you have any suggestions?
I have also tried just getting up and walking out of the room. Some times it works but most times it does not.

We are also crate training him which he has done really well with but I do not want to use it as punishment.
Thank you!

Answer
When you grab him by the scruff as a correction, you must not let go until he stops being aggressive. Otherwise, he wins by being aggressive.

When is he sitting and looking at you and barking? Does he need to be taken out? How often do you take him for walks and play with him?
