bad Maltese Behavior

Question
I have a 5 year old female Maltese.  She's always been as sweet as can be and has never had an issue with biting people.  I've recently moved in with my boyfriend and she is now started biting and snapping at him as well as his 10 year old male pug.

This behavior happens if I am laying down or sitting with her and my boyfriend approaches her to pet her or pick her up to take her out.  Or if she is laying down somewhere and our pug wants to get close to her.  She starts by growling and then lunges at them with a loud snapping growl.  She has bit my boyfriends hands several times and recently just bit his nose really bad.

Why is she doing this? and how can I stop it?

Answer
Hello Heather,

Try ignoring your Maltese for awhile. Do not pick her up or allow her to lay with you.
Also make her walk at a heel on daily walks.

Keep a leash on her in the house and correct her if she displays aggression toward your boyfriend.

Your dog views you as a puppy rather then her master. You must change this or the aggression will get worse.

Good Luck!

Sandy
