length of a yorkie

Hi,
We just bought a Yorkie from a local pet store which we have used before. He is 7 mths old. The store had him since July. I knew there had to be a reason, butwe thought he was so cute. My sister seems to think  he is longer then the other Yorkies she has seen. He weighs about 5 lbs. My question is how long should a Yorkie be @ 7 mths??

Hi Barbara,
I really have no idea at 7 months.  I have a yorkie/silky terrier mix and from the base of her neck to the base of her tail she measures 15 inches.  You might want to go the AKC website and check out the standard for the Yorkshire Terrier.  
Also, pet shops do not usually sell the best quality dogs.  I'm sure yours is adorable, but don't expect him to be in the standard that a good breeder would sell.
