Question
I have had my cockapoo for about 9 months. My dog has long hair and ends up looking like a mop if i dont get her cut! Although i do not want a buzz on her, id like it to be a couple inches. A long but clean haircut. In February i took her to the groomer and i told them clean her up and they did a wonderful job. She really was in need of one this may and my usual groomer was completly booked, so i had to take her somewhere else. When I got there i made it clear and told them not to buzz her, and to keep it long. Sure enough i came to get her and she was completey buzzed. I didnt know what to say i bearly reconized her and i cant put the hair back on. Is there anything i can do to help her grow her hair back? Give her a vitiman B like people do to help humans hair grow? My cockapoo has curly hair..how many inches can it grow up to a month? Will it be about two inches in July, because i cant have her looking this bad all summer- they almost went down to her skin! Thank you so much!

Answer
Hair growth rate varies from dog to dog so I couldn't begin to guess how long it would take your dog to grow out two inches. If you want to keep your dog a bit on the long side, be sure that she is kept thoroughly brushed out as few groomers will take the time to dematt a dog.... they will just shave it down.

I wouldn't start giving her extra vitamins, etc. as you might unbalance her diet and then have other much more serious problems to deal with. What you should do, however, is decide how often you want her groomed, and then set up a new appointment with that groomer that you like *BEFORE* you leave the shop and head home with your newly-groomed dog. That way you should be assured of getting her in for her groom when you want it done, and not have to go to someone else whose work you may not like as well.
