which dog is better for children Maltese or Miniature Schnauzer?

A question like this involves much more consideration. First off, a dog should never be "for the kids". As more than likely you will be the sole care-giver. That being said, this dog must be a family do, and your entire family must be involved in the desicion.

Both maltese and mini schnauzers can be excellent family dogs. But this is if you are willing to train a tiny dog not to be scared of kids running around, and a terrier to behave and listen while you are trying to wrangle kids. Also they both need ALOT of grooming.

I can help you more with your desicion, but I will need a little more info from you. I will put this into a question and answer form.
1.Have you owned a dog(s) before? If so, what breed(s)?

2.How many people are in you family, adults/children? How old are the children?

3.Is there someone who is home most of the day, or are you all out most of the time?

4.How much time are you willing to devote to grooming; for that matter, are you willing to visit a groomer every 6 weeks?

5.Are you active or more laid back?

6. Do you live in a house, apartment, ect?

7.How well behaved around other dogs are your children. Do you have to repeatedly tell them to be nice, or are they generally well behaved?

8.Do you own any other pets?

9. What general size of dog are you interested in?
