Question
Charlotte,
I am allergic to my dog.  Are their certain dog foods ie:Eukanuba, that can help reduce the dogs dander and therefore help me?
Thank you very much.

Answer
Hi Susan;
Dog dander is just a fact of life. Nothing diminishes it, but being allergic to cats, and my children wanting cats too, I had to learn to deal with it.
A daily brushing. If you do the brushing, you should d it outside if possible, and maybe wear an allergy mask while you are brushing.
Dog dander is like our skin shedding, and they expell it all the time.
I take Proventil for my allergies, and it works.
I took my sister's cat when she died, and didn't know how I was going to deal with it, but one Proventil a day and her being brushed everyday, and in a few weeks, my allergies seemed to adjust to the cat being there. We lost her, but I was not bothered by allergies for the remainder that we had her.
Now, different allergies react to different things.
I live in North Texas, and because of our climate, long growing season, and the face that we have little blowing air to blow it away, and Dallas is right across the river from me, I am grabbing a Proventil or Benadryl all the time. North Texas has the distinction of being the allergy capitol of the world.
Some dogs produce less dander. Chihuahuas, and poodles for instance.
As far as i know there are no foods that will help YOUR allergy to the dog.
There are some foods that help the dog's allergies.
