I have a wolf dog that is 8 years old a lately he has really been drinking a lot of water. More than usual. It started about 2 months ago.

I would take him to your vet to have some blood work done.  There are many conditions that can cause increase water consumption, including kidney problems, cushing's disease, most of which can be diagnosed with blood work and a physical.  The sooner such conditions are caught, the sooner they can be treated and prolong the quality of life of your pet.
