Question
Hi,

I have a 3.5 year old Poomeranian that has recently began to pee in the house.  We crate trained him and he never peed in the house.  We have a 1.5 year old and we are now separated.  I know there have been a lot of changes but the peeing issue is very frustrating.  Could this be a raction to the changes in his life.  I am moving to a new home and I need this peeing issue to stop.  what should I do?

Answer
Yes, Tom, many times dogs respond to stressful situations by regressing in house training. If I were you, I would go back and treat him as if he were not housebroken. Crate him when you are not home, so he cannot pee on anything while you're gone. While you're there, if he's having accidents then, keep him confined to the room you're in by closing doors or using baby gates, or keep him tied to you so you can quickly get him outside if he starts to 'go' on something. Try to keep things as 'normal' as possible when you move, as far as his schedule goes, and it should help.
