Question
I have an cocker spaniel poodle mix, In the past week she has developed little sores around her eyes, on the bridge of her nose and around her mouth and under her chin.  It looks like scabs or maybe little hard pimple like scabs. thay are a funny color brown or black around the eye.  She seems fine other than this. However it does seem to spread quickly.  I do have an appointment with the vet on thurs but I am very concerned with how fast this seems to get worse.  can you help put my mind at ease a little bit untill the vet can see her??

Answer
Jamie,

I'm glad you already have an appointment made with her veterinarian. It's hard to make an educated guess without being able to look at the dog. It sounds like some sort of allergic reaction - maybe to food, something she got into, etc. The best I can do to put your mind at ease is to tell you that as long as she is acting the same - eating/drinking/eliminating normally, not acting lethargic, and not getting too many new sores, she will be fine waiting until Thursday. I don't know how rapidly you are talking about them spreading, but if you notice several more sores tonight/tomorrow morning, I would advise you to find another veterinarian who can see her tomorrow.

Good luck!

Ashley
