5 year old German Sheperd Peeing

Question
We have a 5 year old German Sheperd we have had since April of this year, prior to us having her a friend of the family rescued her from a man that use to beat her. When we first got her she was really scared of my husband, any man in fact, but since we have had her she is a completely different dog. She is finally starting to play with our 2 year old German Sheperd and eat properly. A few weeks ago I noticed after she had been sleeping for awhile and moved there was a huge wet spot, it didn't smell like pee so I thought maybe she was licking the sofa. Well, within the pass two weeks it has become an everyday thing and we are 100% sure it is pee. Either she is peeing in her sleep or she is lying down and she can't tell she is peeing. Before this, she has never had a problem with using the bathroom in the house. I am worried that her bladder is going bad, she has already had a horrible life with her previous owner and we don't know what to do. I have grown very attached to her, so as my husband, but we don't have the money at this moment to take her to the vet so they can jerk our chain and rip us off. Any advice or answers would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for reading.

Answer
Not all vet's would rip you off or jerk your chain. Sounds like she has a kidney or bladder infection which could kill her fairly quickly> Call your local humane society, dog rescue  etc. Usually they can put you in touch with a low cost vet to make sure your girl gets what she needs. At five she is too young for her bladder to fail unless there is an underlying condition. However bladder and kidney infection is highly indicated and easily treatable.
