Question
Our 9 year old cockapoo just died this morning.  We took him into the emergency vet at 1:00am because he was pacing in circles and then falling down.  He did this repeatedly.  The vet has no idea why he died.  Is this typical behavior of a dog that knows its dying?  Any information you can give me will be appreciated.  Thank you

Answer
No I wouldn't say that was typical. It sounds more like he was in distress. A stroke, seizure, possibly organ failure (such as kidney) or heart problems. Did you have a post mortem done? Only that will give you real answers. Dogs die in different ways often depending on the reason for their death. I am so terribly sorry for your loss.
