mean streak

Hello, I have a soon to be 6 month old male cocker spaniel and he is really the sweetest thing but lately I notice he can have a mean streak. he growls and sounds like he may try to bite you. it happens when he is eating a bone or today when we tried to put his halo back on (he just got neutered). it doesn't happen all the time but I want to know if there is something I can do now to stop this behavior from getting more frequent.

You need to assert yourself more and establish that you (all people in the family) are alpha and he is not. You should be able to take anything from him without him making a fuss.
