my dog is not barking

i owned a gsd of 5month old well fed but is not barking when is it going to start barking because i bought for protection purpose

Hi Dayo,

You'll need to train your puppy if you plan on using him for protection purposes. It is best to take the dog to a professional trainer to get help with this, as your dog can be considered a weapon, and you would be liable should it attacks any people or other pets.

The dogs used by the army and police departments for protection are usually gentle,  intelligent animals with a tolerant personality, who follow their owners commands to the letter. A dog need not have a vicious personality to be a guard dog, in fact it's better if it isn't.
