Question
Our 6 month old has been on amoxicillin since she was 3 months old due to
UTIs. As soon as she goes off for 2 days she can't hold her urine and tests show
increase white cells or ecoli. She has a rather prominent vulva and a "baboon
butt" and one vet thinks this may be the problem and wants to lift her vulva. We
have not tried vitamins or a different diet . Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Linda,

Thank you for writing to me.

My suggestions:

Give your dog cranberry from the health food store, once a day.

Eliminate all grains from the diet which means that you will have to find a human grade dog food that doesn't incorporate grains or start cooking for her.  You can begin with Dr. Pitcairns book, Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats.

Use a homeopathic remedy called Cantharis, which will help with her infections.

My dog had a similiar problem, except that she was incontinent.  Since I eliminated grains she's been fine.

Best Regards,
Shelley Davis
