Question
We recently bought a 5 month old black female lab.  She is very nice .  Our yard is fenced and we bought a cedar insulated house and want her to live outside.We live in chicago Any suggestions for outdoor living  Many think we are cruel to make her live outside but we are from a farm originally and think its ok.

Face the house away from the wind, and make sure she has plenty of fresh bedding.  

I fail to understand why if you want a dog, you don't keep it in the house with you.  That is where the dog wants to be.  They have an instinctive need for company.  Even if she is just snoozing in the room while you watch TV, she enjoys being around you.  If you ask, I can help manage problems of having a dog in the house.
