QuestionHow long would it take for quick to recede dremeling twice a week. Not seeing any results, or maybe not taking enough off, however I do occasionally get a pin prick of blood, so I have to be close. Someone at a Conf show said maybe I should just have him put under & have the vet take the extra off. Probably need 1/8"-1/4" off Keeshond for a cat paw look.
AnswerThis isn't something that is going to happen overnight; it does take time to get those quicks to recede. Just be sure you work the nails from all angles (top, sides, etc.).
Anesthetizing a dog just to shorten the nails up for the sake of appearance is ridiculous, and certainly not safe. It takes months for those drugs to clear out of a dog's liver.
Years ago I whacked off a dog's nails and they oozed serum for two weeks. I was lucky she didn't pick up some infection. After that experience, I would never advise anyone to do that to a dog... with a vet's help or without.
