BREEDING SILKYS WITH YORKIES

Question
CAN YOU BREED A SILKY TERRIER WITH A YORKSHIRE TERRIER AND STILL BE ABLE TO REGISTER THE PUPS SINCE BOTH PARENTS ARE REGISTERED?

Answer
Hi Carrie,

Any dog, can breed with any other dog, no matter the breed.

The puppies that would result from a Silky Terrier/ Yorkshire Terrier breeding would be mixed breed dogs. Even if you call the puppies something cute like "Silkshire" or "Yorkilky", they still would be mixed breed puppies, and as such you would be unable to register them with either the AKC or CKC.

Best of luck,
Patti
