Scrunching up the blanket

Why does any dog have the need to scrunch up the beds or blankets?  Sometimes my yorkie-poo with just scratch and scratch at the chair she lays in the living room. She is so intense at times. It is cute but yet disturbing at the same time. Thank you in advance for any information on this subject.

Hi Rhonda-

This is just a way to fluff up her bed to make herself more comfortable :) It is an instinct that comes from the wild- same as why dogs turn around before laying down, they have the instinct to flatten the grass to make a nest. Scratching and scrunching up the blankets is just making a nest another way :)
