5yr.old shitzu vs. 10 week old english bulldog

Question
Our family just brought a 10 week old English Bulldog home to our 5yr old Shitzu.  Teddy is a good natured, excellent with children, happy shitzu but he is NOT happy with the puppy.  He shys away from the bulldog and on day one Teddy actually foamed at the mouth and threw up 3 times.  He also sniffs the where the puppy has been and then will go off and "mark" his territory.  Teddy has been neutered.  We thought he wouldn't mind a puppy friend but so far, not so much!!  I've separated their food and kennels.  We are giving Teddy the same (or more) attention as always.  Wondering if you have any other "tips" for us to help Teddy adjust.  Day 2 and 3 seem to be better, Teddy will at least "look" at the puppy, so maybe it's a matter of time and patience.  We want to make this work...if you have any suggestions, please respond.  Thank you in advance.

Answer
Hi, Sherri,

"on day one Teddy actually foamed at the mouth and threw up 3 times.
He also sniffs the where the puppy has been and then will go off and "mark" his territory."

I'm picturing in my mind a toddler who is rebelling against the new baby brother or sister that just came home from the hospital.

In all likelihood, Teddy will get used to the new dog.  Supervise them when they're together just to be sure the puppy isn't constantly pestering Teddy, but doggie "play" is a good sign.

I'm including some information on dog/dog interaction and also on cleaning up those areas where Teddy has expressed his displeasure.
