Cooked Pork Spareribs

Question
Dear Nancy,
I gave my 5 1/2 year old terrier mix a cooked pork sparerib bone. He ate it, all, and then I got scared. I then fed him 6 cotton balls wrapped in cheese. I plan on watching him over night and staying home tomorrow with him. What signs am I looking for and do you think he'll be fine? The bone was two inches long and a quarter inch in diameter. Thanks for your advise.

Answer
Dear Brian,
your dog will probably digest the sparerib bone....  But he might need an operation to remove the cotton balls as they might jam up his digestive track.. You better get him to a vet tomorrow before you have a very sick dog.  In the mean time  I would give him about 3 tablespoons of mineral oil to lubricate his insides..
