Question
Hi I have 2 female maltese dogs 5/6 yrs they both have brown staining toward their rear ends, it looks awful and i dont know what to do to get rid of it?

Answer
Hi Tracey
Are they chewing in that area?   Several reasons this happens... If they get even one flea on them, the flea will usually bite near the rear end and the dog will chew that area and the saliva will discolor the hair...Or the flea bites themselves can discolor this area.
If there isn't even one flea on them, the anal glands may be full and this makes the dog lick themselves a lot.   Again the saliva discolors the area.    Do they have dark stains by their eyes as well.?

If so get a product called Angels Eyes.  It is expensive so get it online.  Go to Angelseyesonline.com to read up on this product.  Then check some of the catalogs like Amazon.com, and Petedge.com  etc to check on prices...Did you know Amazon.com sells advantage pretty cheap?

Also, make sure the anal glands are "expressed" regularly from your vet or dog groomer.
