Question
I have a year and a half dog who I cannot control when I am alway at the house! While I'm not home my boyfriend and I leave our two dogs in a room with food water toys their beds and a puppy pad. This is also my boyfriends room! Our dog Charlie ( we know it is him doing the actions because our other dog princess cannot jump as high as he can), in the past has gotten into an awful habit of jumping onto the bed peeing and pooping all over it and chewing on everything that may have been left on the bed! This has happend countless times and each time we punish Charlie by telling him bad boy making him smell his pee and show him where the right place to do is business is, all by saying it firmly and in all seriousness. Other times we do the same thing and put him in a kennel as punishment to teach him if he he keeps doing it he will be left there. Nothing worked! So to keep him off the bed we raised it by using cartons to make the bed higher than it already is so that he cannot jump on while we're not home(gets irritating doing it at least three or more times a day). Some days however, Charlie dome how jumps on and continues to pee in the blankets on the pillows and even chew on important things we hope he wouldn't get to on the bed since it is raised so high but still he is able to get to it! We are so tired of his bad behavior we no longer know what to do with him! Charlie has just recently been neutered however still as excited as he was. We don't understand why he does this awful habit, we let them out in the backyard to play we give him treats not to mention so many toys! Please, I feel like there's nothing that we can do that we have already tried. Besides doing this habit on the bed he pees and poops on the pad and is very loving. There's just something with the bed that we don't understand! Also, because of this habit, for months he and our other dog princess is not allowed on the bed, so he knows he can't be on it! This always happens when we are not home. Please please please help me, my boyfriend is so fustrated that he is on the verge to giving Charlie away:(

Answer
What you will have to do for about two weeks is to crate Charlie at all times, except to feed him, take him outside, playtime walks ect. He doesn't get freedom until he earns it,and crates teach them to hole it esp when you are not home to watch him. He is most likely doing this because he is dominant and thinks he can mark because he is 'top dog'. Crating is the best way to go,and after two weeks slowly let him out more and if the habit reoccurs, back in the crate he goes for about ten days
