Question
hi, my dog molly who is a pompoo is extremely sick! she is only 3 years old so i am REALLY worried about her from previous experience and loss of a young dog from kiddney failure. anyways, my mother called to inform me that molly had woken her up at 3am last night whining and puking. She then started having pretty bad diarrhea later on in the morning, and my mother told me that the last time she had it, it was almost all blood. my mother won't take molly to the vet, unless she gets even worse or doesn't stop pooping blood. I am two hours away at my father's house and i can't get to her until tomorrow evening. I am wondering if you know what may be wrong with her from those symptoms. Please and thank you so much!

Answer
The first thing I would like to ask you that is so important is I need to know if she is up to date with her shots.  Parvo is very dangerous for dogs to get.  If she is up to date with her shots than that is probably something you don't have to worry about, but if she isn't than I would take her in to the Vet ASAP, the symptoms of Parvo is Blood in the stool and diarrhea with a very foul smell, vomiting, and not eating, but some dogs don't have all the symptoms at the same time.  Blood is the one that I would worry about.  If she is up to date than she may have eaten something like a rawhide or toy that could of gotten stuck in her intestines, she would probably need an X-ray and possible surgery to remove the item, if that was the case, some dogs just get a bad infection which can cause blood, internal injuries, but even though loosen blood is a very serious matter, the one I am concerned with is Parvo because dogs with Parvo have to be treated ASAP. to have a better survival rate.  Parvo virus can be carried in your house on someone's shoes, or can be in the grass outside and your dog can sniff it which would cause her to ingest the virus. Any dog that has Parvo is highly contagious. I am very concerned about your dog, Please let me know the outcome by submitting a feedback on me. Sincerely Concerned, Angela Jensen
