Question
Hi, I have a 4 year old male pure bred Boxer who is ALWAYS scratching or chewing himself.  He scratches his ears so hard that he makes them bleed and swell up.  He chews the front of his legs and his paws quite often as well.  I use cortizone for his ears and that works quite well.  He also has an odor to him that I can't seem to get rid of.  I have switched foods and tried all natural diets for him with no success.  I put him on venison for 2 months, white fish for 2 months and salmon for 2 months.  Nothing worked for the smell. Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to what the smell could be?

Answer
Jennifer-

That smell is a yeast infection on his skin- he needs to be given a shot of antihistamine and be put on medication to help clear it up. A vet trip is a good idea!

And I like the food, keep him on nice all natural grain free food- but avoid fish if you dont like fishy odor ! :)

Good luck!
