Question
i have two 9 month old dogs, they live in a kennel and indoors i have wormed them and showered them but from some reason they smell really bad. can you help

Answer
Hi Zean,

Thank you for writing to me.  Pardon the delay but I've been ill with the flu.  Thank you for your patience.  When you refer to living in a kennel, do you mean outside?  Is this a heated kennel, out of the weather with heat and air conditioning?  If not, they may be ill from not having protection.  I'm a huge believer that having a dog means bringing it into your heart and home..as a family member.  Dogs are pack animals and are meant to be part of a family, which to a dog is a pack.

You mention that you've wormed them..did you have them tested for worms and parasites first?  Giving poison, which is what worming medicine is, without cause and without focus on what is ailing the dog is making things possibly worse.

Your dogs' odor could be nutritional deficiency, allergies or from illness.  Either way, they need to be seen by a vet to determine the cause.  In the meantime, make sure that they are eating a high quality human grade food and give fish oil supplements.

Additionally, please spay/neuter your puppies.  For every dog born there is one less home for a dog on death row.  We have to be responsible dog owners!

You can order the above foods on line or have your local pet shop get the one of your choice for you.

Best of luck with your new puppies.
