QuestionI have a 2yr old German Shepard. I want to know how much food, daily that I should be feeding him. His last visit to the vet he weighed 84 lbs. I am not a breeder, just a pet owner.
Thanks
AnswerMost larger dogs need 3-4 cups if feeding a meat based chow. Unlike some breeds, many Shepherds will refuse to eat more than they need. Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs.
