Hot Spots Collie / NuVET for hot spots, Acidophilus 1 Billion CFUs

Hello Ms. Marie, I Love Wasilla !
Here's my problem.  Rough Collie, 5 years old, weighs 98 pounds, have had since a Pup.  Had his diet as 1 Cup of Chicken Kibble, and 1/2 baked chicken breast nightly.  Developed Hot spots @ about 4 years old.  Went to progressively worse, and Dermatologist switched him to Raw / Dried Rabbit.  (Nightmare, buying, drying, and storing)  Also Dermatologist had him on Antibiotics to clear up infections, completed 5 week regimen and the spots have returned.  I'm thinking he's got WAY too much Protein in his current diet, and it's probably WAY too rich.  Is it permissible to put him on straight Rice for about a week or two to see if I can clear this mess up?

Hi Bill - Yes, I bet your Collie has some Environmental Allergies besides the food allergies.  I would love to help you kids...
And, YES Wasilla is beautiful but cold!

Ok, how about you try this kid on some rice and Wellness CORE dog food /  YOU should be able to find the Core - please get the Seafood Wellness CORE. ( ocean flavor)
Place you kid on 1/2 chicken breast ( do 1/4 in the am and 1/4 in the pm with some CORE and some rice, too)

After about 2 weeks try just the Core food and mix it with 1/2 a chicken breast per day.  After 1 more week....Then, let's go with just the Wellness Core dog food only.

Next, I would like you to go and get some Acidophilus 1 billion CFUs and give 2 per day for 5 days.  AFTER that, give 1 per day - long term.  ( acidophilus can be found at a health store or on-line)

PLEASE let your vet know you are going a more Natural route with your dog's care.  Keep your vet in the LOOP.  Also, please complete the antibiotic regimen from your vet.

Also, I would like to see if you can find some PURE salmon oil - give your dog 1-2 tablespoons per day - just mix into the food.
If the stools get loose, then lower the dosage of salmon oil.
