Question
I have a 14 y/o neutered male Yorkie who has turned into a picky, not much eater. Vet checked teeth=ok He is on beta blocker and mild diuretic for congestive heart failure. He recently started eating less of usual favorite dog food. Tried a different kind and he liked it for a week and then shunned it as well. Can go a couple of days without eating and then picks and eats a little which has us worried since he used to be a piggie eater with gusto. Any suggestions for the old guy?

Answer
Hi colette

Remember your little friend is on medications that might be taking his appetite away as it does in my case also.?
He is not well, so pamper him with Iams canned puppy broth, cottage cheese, yugurt, no milk, but cheese, peanut butter, all protein and calicum to help him survive.
Try a soft food, do not buy cheap canned foods, but Iams is good in puppy brand that I start my pups on with ground up dry puppy Pro Plan.  Chicken and Rice dogs love that flavor wet with hot water, set for twenty seconds and serve.  Try that with cottage cheese mixed in it.
He is not well and has good days and bad days and on bad days nothing taste well, we can understand this with this poor little guy.
His time is very limited on this earth now, so u must think like a dog now and try everything to try and get him hungry for the meds are strong.

I do not believe in chemicals in my dogs if u to go my site and read litters page, I have almost totally eliminated them, no heart guard, no flea chemicals for all this junk is going into the dogs system to prevent one thing and ruin many others.  I have now found a wonder product in Fresh Factors my old Bulldog is on and could not walk, now she plays with the Shepherds I raise and they take good care of her, click on the video on my front page of my new female that arrived in minutes and turned loose with my adults.  I raise wonderful trained and great temperment dogs.  They are so healthy so please go to litters and scroll down to springtimeinc.com and order fresh factors and do not put anymore chemicals into your pet your killing it and vets do not care, they get bonus points I have found for selling certain meds to u for your pets for trips, gifts, etc.  Really I know this I will soon be 66 and I am an old pro at finding things out that vets do.

GIve lots of water and gatorade to the dog to drink also.  Beat an egg with tbsp of sugar for a quick pickup, let it eat it raw, it will not hurt the dog I give to my bitches in labor to get a pickup.  Give it peanut butter, pure protein if it eats any of it.  Try anything to keep it going and offer gatorade to drink or pedelite for babies I give my pups if they get loose bowels, try anything, click on my email on litters or contact page and keep me posted I might be able to offer more.

Kind Regards
Patt
