Maltese terriers

Question
Hi i just recently got a Maltese Terrier from a friend.
He is about 3 months old and his problem is that he seems to snap and bite a lot especially me, we try and discipline it by giving it a small tap on its nose but it doesnt seem to work, i was just wondering if it is just a pup thing and will grow out of it or if there's something we can do about it, if there is would you be able to help?
i also have another question about walking, we bought him a leash to try and walk him to the park, but instead of walking he would just sit down, i've tried to pull him just a little but he wont walk. If you have any advice for these questions it would be a big help.
Thank you  Age

Answer
Hello Age,
First off so not to embarrass yourself to anyone walking on the street, what you have is a toy breed known as a Maltese.  There isn't a AKC breed known as a Maltese terrier.  Just FYI.

As far as the biting.....tell him NO in a stern voice and then give him his own toy and then praise him for chewing on that.  It should get less and less as he gets older.  Especially after he is done teething at about 6 months.
Walking....well here is another thing where you are the boss.  You have to keep walking and talk to him as you are doing it.  Come...heal....come on baby....when he walks tell him GOOD BOY!!!  He will get the picture.
 Hope this helps.
